Converter Stations 3kV DC / 400V AC

The Container Converter Station is designed to supply devices and facilities with 3x230/400V AC voltage using power from a 3kV DC traction network.

Primary applications of Container Converter Station include:

  • backup power supply for signal boxes and individual consumers,
  • railway traffic control devices, automatic level crossing signaling, telecommunications, teletechnical, and diagnostic equipment,
  • electrical turnout heating systems,
  • lighting for crossings, walkways, platforms, and station tracks,
  • devices in station buildings and loading ramps.

In its standard configuration, the Container Converter Station is housed in a container measuring 2960x4160x2800 [W x L x H], containing all the necessary system components, such as:

  • connection Cabinet: Equipped with components such as the SESTO electric energy measurement transducer and a disconnector-grounding switch assembly,
  • internal Needs Cabinet: Includes control circuits (lighting, heating, ventilation) and control circuits for network disconnectors (integrated TEOL system by SESTO),
  • load Power Supply Cabinet: Enables energy distribution on the secondary side of the converter and supplies low-voltage loads from the Container Converter Station.

At the heart of the system is a specially designed static converter with a high insulation level (15kV) – the SESTO PNT3. This converter transforms 3kV DC into 3x230/400V AC at a frequency of 50 Hz. The converter delivers an output current of 91 A and an output power of 63 kVA.

The Container Converter Station has successfully passed tests confirming compliance with the strict requirements set by PKP PLK for devices directly connected to the traction network.
